Province and Toronto Disagree on Condo Gym Opening
Yesterday afternoon, the City of Toronto released new guidelines for commercial and residential buildings. The guidelines say that condominium gyms can open, despite Toronto being in Stage 2 of the Government of Ontario’s reopening plan.
This morning, the Office of the Premier confirmed with us that all indoor gyms in Areas in Stage 2 (Toronto, Ottawa, Peel, and York) must remain closed. The Office of the Premier pointed to their website, which has not changed, and told us that condominium gyms in Toronto should not open.
In light of the conflicting information, our advice remains the same: condominium gyms in Toronto, Ottawa, Peel, and York must remain closed. We understand that this is frustrating for many stakeholders, and we will provide more information as soon as the Government of Ontario provides an update.
