Ontario Government Delegates Two More Prescribed Forms to CAO

The content below has been taken from correspondence from the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services

Effective September 1, 2020, the Condominium Authority of Ontario (CAO) will be responsible for administering two more key forms under the Condominium Act, 1998, namely:

  • Notice of Future Funding of the Reserve Fund - Information that must be provided by a condominium corporation to owners and the corporation’s auditor about a reserve fund study and the plan for the future funding of its reserve fund.

  • Summary of Lease or Renewal - Information that must be provided to a condominium corporation by an owner who enters or renews a lease, sublease or assignment of a lease of their unit or common interest in the condominium corporation about the lease, sublease, assignment or renewal, if a copy of same is not provided to the corporation.

Please see the attachment for details on these two forms (Items 18 and 19) located here. As of September 1, 2020, these forms will be available on the CAO's website to provide easier access and use by condo owners, corporations, purchasers and mortgagees.

As you may be aware, the Government of Ontario delegated responsibility for administering 17 forms under the Condominium Act, 1998 to the CAO on January 1, 2020.
